Segment Plug Type
The segment plug is composed of a central blowing unit realized by hydraulic pressed alumina plates, then sintered at high temperature. This unit is contained in a refractory body casted in alumina spinel.

Slot/Slit plug type
The slot plug is composed of a monolithic body realized in alumina spinel in which a wide range of gas blowing slots are placed.

Porous plug Type
The porous plug is made of a monolithic body realized in alumina zirconia, pervious to gases but impermeable to the molten metal.

Application:
Purging plugs are crucial in industrial processes involving high-temperature molten materials, with the following main applications:
In steelmaking, purging plugs at the bottom of ladles or tundishes inject inert gases like argon during molten steel refining and casting.
This serves two purposes:
1.Stirring molten steel for more uniform alloying elements and temperature, essential for high-quality steel.
2.Removing impurities and inclusions from molten steel. Gas bubbling makes them float to the surface for removal, avoiding final steel defects.
In non-ferrous metal smelting (aluminum and copper):
In aluminum smelting, purging plugs introduce gases (chlorine or argon) to degas molten aluminum, as hydrogen absorption during melting can cause casting porosity.
In copper smelting, they agitate the copper liquid to enhance fluidity, aiding in processing stage transfer and boosting production efficiency.
In the casting industry (cast iron and cast steel), purging plugs are used during pouring. They can be in molds or with ladles. A gentle gas flow prevents air pockets or voids in castings, which could weaken parts. This ensures good mold cavity filling and results in high-quality, defect-reduced castings.
